DP World Southampton: Carriageway Resurfacing - Southern Road 25/08/23

Please note we have received the below notification from DP World Southampton re: upcoming road closures on the road network approaching the terminal:

We would like to bring to your attention the below roadwork notice from Balfour Beatty working in partnership with Southampton City Council, which will affect the road network as you approach the DP World Southampton terminal.

"Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with Southampton City Council to manage the highways service across Southampton. As part of this, we will be carrying out carriageway resurfacing works on Southern Road.

The works will begin from Tuesday 29th August 2023 for 2 and a half weeks, starting with 1 week of preparatory works. Access will still be available during the preparatory works. Working hours will be 7:30am – 5:30pm weekdays.

The carriageway resurfacing works will commence on Monday 4th September 2023 for 7 nights and will be carried out in two phases as shown below.

• Phase 1 will consist of 3 nights work and a road closure between West Quay Road and Dock gate 10. The working hours will be weekday nights 10pm – 6am
• Phase 2, will consist of 4 nights work with a closure between Western Esplanade and West Quay Road. The working hours will be weekday nights 8pm –6am

Access to Southampton Central Police Station will be maintained and controlled by our team on site.

The works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works, however we will endeavour to meet the proposed schedule.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause.

We will be returning to the area at a later date to carry out High Friction Surfacing."
