In the last 24 hours we’ve noted that most vessels on the water are now moving, taking the journey around the Cape of Good Hope rather than continuing to anchor. This does mean that customers can expect shipments on the water to be delayed in the order of 1-2 weeks. We are speaking to our customers daily and will continue to provide regular updates on affected shipments.
We do expect disruption to future schedules, and will provide further updates on this in due course. Additionally, we are expecting the availability of empty containers in Asia to be impacted from mid January at the latest. Please also expect some port disruption in Europe as vessels will be off schedule.
We are aware of noise in the market regarding freight rates. The situation is still fluid, and we are regularly processing information provided to us by carriers. At this stage, if customers wish to discuss this further, please reach out to your regular point of contact and we will provide the latest information available.
We remain committed to supporting customers through this period of uncertainty. Please connect with your main Ligentia point of contact if you have any questions about the current situation or wish to discuss your options.
