As of January 1 2024, HMRC are no longer accepting Origin Statements for DCTS preferential countries that show the text ‘Generalized Systems of preferences (GSP)’ or ‘European Union’.
The below example would be considered incorrect and will no longer be accepted:
If you are shipping from a DCTS country, the Origin Statement must be correct and signed in order to be considered valid. Documents should be uploaded as a PDF, containing a signed declaration, and should follow the below format:
Note regarding REX numbers:
We have seen some discussion around old REX numbers being provided as the Customs Identification Number (1), and this could potentially be incorrect. However, until HMRC confirm the exact requirement for a Customs Identification Number, we will continue to accept REX numbers as a form of identification as they can be checked on the European Commission website for validation REX number validation (europa.eu).
We continue to seek clarification from HMRC on this matter and will share further information as and when we have it.
