Cyclone Remal made landfall on Sunday evening in coastal parts of India and southern Bangladesh.
On Monday evening we received an update that the signal had been lowered from Nine (9) to Three (3) for Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Payra and Mongla.
However, it has still been raining heavily in Chittagong and other parts of Bangladesh. All operational activities at Chittagong Port (including loading and unloading) were halted, and depots were instructed not to send any containers to port. As a result, depots are congested.
The extreme weather has also meant operations are being disrupted in depots / CFS due to the impact on the workforce. The receiving of trucks and stuffing of containers has been occurring but on a very limited scale.
We are monitoring the situation closely and will contact customers regarding any affected bookings. Should you have any questions please reach out to your Customer team.
