General overview: The situation in the Indian Subcontinent (ISC) and Bangladesh (BD) regions remans challenging, with port congestion and equipment shortages. We continue to monitor the recent disruption in BD closely. While curfews were relaxed this week and the situation appears to be improving, Chittagong port is still facing congestion due to last week’s shutdown. Please see our latest update here.
Elsewhere, delays are anticipated due to adverse weather conditions in the Cape of Good Hope.
Looking ahead to August, September and October, significant capacity reductions of around 30% are anticipated for THE Alliance (including Hapag-Lloyd) due to the separation of this alliance and preparations for the Gemini network. In the meantime, the China Global Express (CGX) service will continue operating until Week 48 to facilitate the transitional period. We will continue to update you on the known implications of the Gemini alliance between Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd as soon as we know more.

- Tacoma Rail Car supply is in severe deficit causing higher import rail dwell times. Potential relief expected for early to mid-August. Import rail dwell are 6.0 days at Husky, 6.7 days at Washington United Terminal and 1-3 days at T18. Washington United Terminal is limiting their operations to a maximum of 3 gangs on vessels and 1 berth operation until further notice due to lack of rail cars to evacuate Imports. They are also delaying startup operations on vessels for the same reason. Husky terminal is experiencing labor fill shortages which will negatively impact terminal operations. No impact for Seattle port. (Source: HPL)
