Heavy rainfall in Bangladesh effecting port operations – 22/08/24

Over the past few days, Chittagong has been experiencing continuous heavy rainfall, causing significant flooding in various areas of the city. The rain intensity has resulted in waterlogging on the streets, making commuting and daily activities extremely challenging.

There are major disruptions to activities at off-docks and the port, which have already affected operations. This situation has made CFS and port operations difficult. ICDs (Inland container depots) are facing difficulties transporting loaded containers to the port and flooding roads is resulting in slower than usual transport movement.
