General overview: With the arrival of September, the air freight market ushered in the peak season. Due to the large exporting volume of electronic products, as well as the approach of the Golden Week holiday, the current space situation of all routes is tight and the air rates have been rising.
At Dhaka Airport, the cargo village is experiencing congestion. Shipment dwell time at has increased to 4-5 days due to all carriers facing backlogs. Additionally, carriers are encountering issues with onward confirmation from hubs, particularly for flights headed to the US and Canada. Airlines are facing equipment shortages, which is delaying the handover process.
In India, demand has increased due to a surge in the BD market. All carriers have increased rates to the EU and USA. Space to the US is very tight. Heavy rainfall in BOM has resulted in delays for cargo movements to the airport. The advice is to move cargo by closed body trucks, with shrink wrapped cartons to avoid damage.

Air cargo industry anticipates big peak season to come
LOGISTICS experts and analysts anticipate that the air cargo market's strong performance in the first half of the year will gain momentum in the final months when international shipping typically surges to meet holiday shopping demands, reports New York's FreightWaves.
While e-commerce demand from Asia remains a key growth driver, other factors also boost air shipments.
Despite US and European companies pre-ordering inventory to avoid disruptions like vessel rerouting due to the Red Sea conflict, the general industry outlook suggests that sustained demand will lead to increased transport activity.
However, there is still the possibility that fall orders were simply brought forward, which could dampen future volumes.
Additionally, mixed macroeconomic signals leave economists uncertain about the stability of consumer spending.
"I think you're going to see the trend continuing. There is going to be an increase in volumes [while widebody freighter capacity is constrained] and rates are going to be affected as a consequence," said Atlas Air CEO Michael Steen.
