General overview: On the FEWB trade lane, market volume is increasing, especially from Northern and Eastern China. Due to the blank sailing programmes deployed by carriers, available space is once again becoming limited and we expect a significant capacity reduction of nearly 30% for the first half of November.
A strong Typhoon Kong-rey made landfall on Taiwan's east coast on Thursday. Due to this typhoon approaching Zhejiang area today, our origin team has advised that currently Ningbo Port has stopped the pick-up of empty / return of laden containers from 01 Nov 2024 (16:00) local time until further notice.
At Chittagong Port in Bangladesh, operations are proceeding normally, with no congestion inside the port. Export volume at the CFS has decreased compared to previous weeks, and ICD operations at the container yard are running smoothly, with no major shortages of empty containers. A strike called by the Trailer Mover Association was quickly withdrawn, allowing activities to continue uninterrupted.
In India, port operations and capacity are stable across Chennai, Tuticorin, and Nhava Sheva ports.
On the TPEB trade lane, vessel space for the US West Coast is tight in November, as shippers make last-minute bookings for Thanksgiving and Christmas cargo. For the Pacific Northwest (Canada and the U.S. ports of Tacoma and Seattle), vessel space is more available as operations return to normal following the CAWC port strike.

Montreal port strike (update)
Port of Montreal set for new strike at TerMont terminals tomorrow
Unionized workers started an unlimited strike at two terminals of the port of Montreal on Thursday amid stalled talks on a new labor contract, the employers' association said.
The strike affects two terminals operated by Termont, which handle about 40% of the port's container traffic but only about 15% of the port's overall volumes. The new labour action is expected to impact 15% of the entire volume handled at the Port of Montreal, which is 40% of container traffic. It will affect both the Maisonneuve (Termont) and Viau Terminals.
