Issued: 01 May 2025
We want to share a proactive update regarding rising geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan following a recent terrorist attack in Kashmir. While there is currently no disruption to Ligentia’s operations, we are closely monitoring the situation and potential impacts to air, sea and inland transportation movements
Current Developments
In recent days, the following developments have been observed:
- Heightened military activity along the India–Pakistan border, including ongoing cross border shelling and diplomatic withdrawals.
- Airspace restrictions, with India closing its airspace for flights into and out of Pakistan.
- High-level security meetings held by Indian leadership, with broad political support for a coordinated response.
Potential Supply Chain Impact
While operations currently remain unaffected, tensions may lead to short-term or localized disruptions, particularly in North India. We are keeping a close watch on the situation.
Air:
- Most Ligentia air shipments originate in North India via New Delhi International Airport.
- Escalation could result in delays or rerouting of air cargo operations.
Sea:
- No current impact is expected. Goods are typically railed to ports in West India (Mundra, Nhava Sheva), which continue to operate as normal.
Inland Transport:
- Military activity may lead to temporary delays in rail transit and security checks, particularly across production hubs in New Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and surrounding regions.
What to Expect
Minimal Immediate Impact: Shipments are proceeding as scheduled, with all quoted rates and timelines currently unchanged.
Monitoring and Communication: Ligentia India is actively monitoring developments and will share updates as the situation evolves.
We remain committed to supporting your operations and minimizing potential disruptions. For any immediate concerns or shipment-specific guidance, please reach out to your local Ligentia contact or our India team.
