We would like to inform you of an important update regarding U.S. import tariffs that will affect Australian steel and aluminium exports.
On June 3, 2025, the U.S. Administration issued an Executive Order increasing tariffs on steel and aluminium imports from 25% to 50%, effective at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on June 4, 2025.
Impact on Australian Exports to the U.S.
- The tariff increase applies to all Australian steel and aluminium products, including derivatives.
- Goods already in transit to the U.S. will also be subject to the new 50% tariff upon arrival.
- Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) protections for duty rates are no longer valid for goods stored in U.S. FTZs unless withdrawn before the effective date.
