An Ocean Alliance is a group of carriers who have agreed to share their fleet of ships. This enables them to extend their service offerings and geographic coverage whilst fully utilising their vessels.
This consolidation of carriers enables liners to have more shipping options with less vessels. These alliances can, however, cause more blank sailings due to carriers operating on the same vessels, meaning the number of overall schedules is reduced.
