A commercial invoice is a very important document when it comes to shipping, this is provided by the seller and is a legal document between them and the buyer. This document acts as a proof of sale and details the price, value and quantity of the goods being sold as well as the terms agreed between both parties.
The values on the commercial invoice are then used by the clearing agent to declare the customs entry which will calculate the duty & VAT owed based on the commodity codes.
