Further to our customer communication sent last Thursday in reference to Felixstowe quay being shut, suppliers are now encountering major difficulties in obtaining restitution instructions from shipping lines for containers ex Southampton.
The Quay is full, as are storage depots in the area and the shipping lines are unable to offer suitable alternative restitution points. As a consequence, it’s likely that suppliers ability to deliver on time will start to be greatly affected.
Suppliers will start to utilise what spare trailers they have to store empties but unless there’s improvement from carriers/ports, performance will inevitably suffer further.
The Ligentia Customer Services teams will keep you posted on any effected shipments but please note this is out of suppliers hands. Subsequently suppliers will not accept detention charges, rebooking’s will be per suppliers availability and flexibility within the market will be further reduced.
