As supply chains across the world navigate the disruption caused by both COVID and the current new Brexit regulations, it would seem Chinese New Year may be the third area that needs further consideration.
Loadstar has reported this week there is a great deal of uncertainty over supply and demand on the Asia-EU trade lane over Chinese New Year.
Generally, factories in China close for the duration of the holiday, this year from 12-26 February, but 2021 looks like it could be different, with varying closure dates across the country.
In southern China, lots of factories are expected to shut down much earlier than usual this year with people being off from the middle of January which is a month prior to CNY.
With some factories advancing holiday and re-opening times, others are announcing to remain open throughout highlighting a clear change in approach this year.
