There has been a significant increase in the frequency of delayed container movements in the US. While port congestion and driver shortages have been ongoing challenges for some time, we are now seeing delays in rail movements too.
Many businesses have turned to alternative routes in order to avoid West Coast congestion, which has resulted in rail movement delays of up to 10 days across the East Coast, Mid-West and Southern states.
A shortage of rail cars is now also impacting rail movements from Los Angeles.
Additionally, the delays are slowing down the return of containers to Asia, which is further exacerbating the equipment shortage there.
Our Customer teams are continuing to monitor the situation and we will keep you updated. Should you require any information on specific bookings, please get in touch.
