In China, the National Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for the typhoon Chanthu, which is expected to make landfall today (Monday 13th September).
Chanthu is expected to weaken on its approach to Shanghai and has been downgraded from 'super' to 'strong'. However, high winds, rain and flooding are likely on the coast of Zhejiang province, which has led officials to suspend operations at major air and sea transport hubs.
Yangshan Deepwater Port has suspended all box pickup and delivery operations. The two main port areas of Waigaoqiao and Wusong will also halt the entry and exit of containers.
Storage yards have closed.
In Ningbo, operations have been phased out from Sunday 12th September.
Heavy delays are expected over the coming days.
