In early November, container volume at eight major Chinese ports was down 7.4%, with many forced to close due to inclement weather. This includes ports such as the Port of Shanghai and the Port of Tianjin.
Inland container volume declined 12%, with Dalian, Ningbo, Qingdao and Tianjin all shutting temporarily. Meanwhile, cargo throughput dropped 5.5% year-on-year, while export cargo throughput declined 5.9%.
In this same period, cargo throughput and container volume at Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing declined 12.2% and 13.6% respectively.
