As we head into the pre-Chinese New Year peak season, Yantian International Container Terminal (YICT) continues to operate at full gear to ensure operations run as smoothly as possible.
However, with no improvement in congestion at overseas ports, the vessel schedule has been delayed over 170 hours on average over the last two weeks, with the number of vessels arriving on time less than 20%. The number of vessel arrivals has dropped sharply by more than 40% – this is primarily on US and EU services.
As such, there are many laden boxes currently stuck inside the terminal and the yard density is close to full.
In order to ensure efficiency and ease traffic pressures outside the terminal, Yantian will take the following measures for the export laden boxes gate-in:
- Starting from 00:00 on January 21 2022, Yantian will only receive export laden containers with vessel ETB-4 (Estimated Time of Berthing: within 4 days)
- The laden gate-in quota will remain at 12,000 as usual
Yantian will continue to closely communicate and coordinate with the government, shipping carriers and relevant associations.
We are continuing to monitor the situation, but please don’t hesitate to contact our Customer teams should you have any questions about specific bookings.
