New Zealand Ports have paused operations as safety precaution while Cyclone Gabrielle hits the country.
We are working closely with affected shipping lines, terminals, depots, and transport service providers to assess the ongoing impact of the situation. Shipping lines have advised Ports Omission , alternative routings, where available to minimise disruption.
The following covers the latest information available:
- Tauranga – Vessels to depart from the Tauranga anchorage to sea, where they may remain till it is deemed safe for them to return. Shipping movements remain suspended due to high swells.
- Auckland - Due to uncertainty concerning the direction of Cyclone Gabrielle, terminal will vacate all vessels alongside the berths and not berth any other vessels in the next 36-48 hours minimum until it is deemed safe to do so.
- Napier - Port Closed from 13th February 15:00 hours until 15th February 23:59 hours.
